Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals SPF 15 Foundation is a mineral-based foundation that gives flawless coverage. Made of 100% natural pure, crushed minerals from the earth, the mineral foundation has the appearance of a powder, feels like a cream, and glides on like silk, giving skin a natural dewy glow while feeling as if you are not wearing any makeup at all. The amazingly gentle mineral makeup does not contain any sort of parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, or petro-chemicals. Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Foundation gives the skin full coverage and is free of preservatives, talc, oil, waxes, fragrances, and other chemicals that can irritate skin and cause breakouts. It’s extremely gentle to the skin and is recommended for sensitive skin and is even gentle enough to use on rosacea. It’s also won Best of Sephora Winner 2008!
With mineral makeup, the more you add, the thicker the coverage. It’s best to use a buffing kabuki brush that comes with the set. A little bit goes a long way! Don’t let the powder deceive you. Start with a tiny bit on the brush, tap, and gently swirl on your skin. I wouldn’t personally recommend mineral makeup for extremely oily skin. You’ll actually increase your shine level instead of matte it. For oily skin, I recommend an all natural loose powder or pressed powder made out of rice powder.
During the summer heat, don’t cake on the mineral makeup. Your sweat mixes with the mineral makeup and it becomes extremely shiny and gathers into clumps easily. If you can’t help but put a thick layer on, make sure to set your mineral makeup with mineral veil AND use a makeup setting spray. During the winter months when your skin is more prone to dryness and it’s more flaky, make sure to moisturizer your skin well before applying mineral makeup. If you don’t, the powder will emphasize any sort of dry patches on the skin.
My personal formula? I use a layer of gentle creme foundation and then apply a thin layer of mineral makeup over it. People are always amazed by how my makeup looks. My skin looks like it’s glowing and my complexion looks very even and clean. When covering up pimples, I don’t use mineral makeup directly on the pimple to cover it up (although you can). I use a thin layer of acne treatment coverup. Then, I set the coverup with my mineral makeup. To avoid emphasizing dry patches on my skin, I use a thick velour powder puff and apply my mineral makeup in gentle cradling motions. The puff sets the mineral makeup very nicely, and smoothes out any rough patch of dry skin.
